Contemporary life is reshaped by technical means, the forms of communications are in constant change. The traditional interpretation of the “acoustic community” (term by Barry Truax) means currently a delocalized electronic one. According to this, the City strings project aims to transform the sonic network of Brno a little bit, just for a while. We place installations on the public area, which are controlled by indirect ways, like pulling an invisible string.
It is possible to use the installations either by walking around on the street or by using the website: just see the list of works on the sidebar right!

SHAPING THE NEW. The impact of residencies on artwork
Residencies and conference (April to June 2011)

Kovacs´s May residency in 4AM is part of the international project “Shaping the NEW”.
Partners of the project: Slovakia www.kosice2013.sk), Poland (www.arttransparent.org), Hungary (www.lenau.hu) a Moldova (www.oberliht.com).

It is a big pleasure for us to be Shaping the New project partner. We´ve send architect Jaroslav Sedlak to Chişinău in Moldova for 2 months. Good luck!

During the recent years it’s getting more simple to create interaction
between computers and the physical world. On the input side,
with the spread of the tactile or optical interfaces, on the output side,
using microcontrollers it’s easy to step out the “box”.

…In this weekend we get introduction in both of the territories,
focusing on the latter: we plan and build blinking, moving, rotating
objects with the wish or artistic use.

The objective of the workshop is to jointly create a mechanical installation
on a public space of Brno.

The workshop is open to everybody interested in, but the participants are
encouraged to bring their own:
- computer, microcontroller (Arduino or similar)
- sensors (potentiometers, photoresistors, pressure, temperature, movement sensors etc)
- moving objects (dc, servo or stepper motors etc)
