The seasonal outdoor exposition will be present a selection of realised proposals within Central European area focused on the youngest generation of architects.

Each two weeks a new architectural project will be exhibited in the temporary object in front of 4AM/Gallery of Architecture in Brno. The aim of this exhibition is immediate contact of the general public with contemporary architecture, boost the public space outside
the main entrance to 4AM and enlargement of interconnection the gallery, located on the first floor, with Starobrněnská Street. The exhibition installation will be used as well as urban furniture for sitting or bike stand.

The presentation of each project will embrace its genesis from original idea to realisation. Projects will be exhibited by backlit panel and working models.

A part of each project opening will be a lecture of its authors, this will take place also in public space in nearby courtyard of the House of the Lords of Kunštát (in case of bad weather in interior hall).

A growing number of independent groups and individual authors treats architecture as a media of art, culture / cultivation, science or society. Their authors are often not architects (or don’t act in a conventional architectural way), don’t belong to one generation nor community, they don’t necessarily name their medium an architecture. They, however, treat it and they do it unconventionally: they don’t tend to give answers, nor solve problems. They are rather exploring, asking, deconstructing, analyzing, arguing and experiencing. The way they do it varies: from asking verbal questions, through secondary media to direct action.

This kind of approach doesn’t arise from a private, public, nor common social assignment. Its driving force is a great passion or even an urge to explore, deconstruct and play with urbanity and architecture. It’s only natural, that these activities are voluntary, civic, alternative – and eventually social and networked. No guidance (school, institute or private practice) would allow for such a free approach. Hence these projects are closer to an art rather than to a conventional architecture. Even though there are usually architects involved, they don’t act like ones. It’s a slow and gradual shift in the understanding of an architect’s role.

A selection of Slovak and Czech independent projects will be a dialogue starter between the authors and a passionate audience. The presence in Venice will be a natural continuation of the projects in a sophisticated environment of La Biennale. Without the audience the display wouldn’t exist – the exposition will only appear to those willing to start a dialogue. In a virtual space of augmented reality, there will be about 30 parallel exhibitions accessible through the a boundary-less interface of digital technologies. The visitors will be asked to literally talk to the authors and the projects themselves. Their comments will be recorded and later used as a trigger for further activities.

The Czechoslovak pavilion will house a common display of the following groups and authors: 4AM forum for architecture and media (CZ), Atrakt art (ak), Banská St a nica (SK), Bunka pre súčasnú kultúru / Cell for contemporary culture (SK), Čerstvé ovocie, n.o. / Fresh fruit (SK), Pavlína Morháčová (SK), Nástupište 1-12 / Platform 1-12 (SK), Offcity (CZ), rese arch (SK), Urbanflow (SK) and others.
