REMAKE: REthinking Media Arts in C(K)ollaborative Environments is an international art project happening from June 2010 until May 2012. Its aim is to initiate creation and presentation of contemporary works inspired by the history of media arts. Project’s final part is an international touring exhibition which will be shown in The House of Lords of Kunstat (The Brno House of Arts) and 4AM/Gallery of Architecture from 7 March until 15 April 2012. More than a static exhibition in a classical approach, this exhibition will be rather a dynamic social action that brings a series of artistic events presenting new, as well as selected pioneering media art pieces.
4AM / Gallery of Architecture will serve as an exhibition space and media laboratory where local Do It Yourself scene will be presented – original student platform Standuino. Its activities were inspired by the works of musician and FaVU pedagogue Stanislav Filip and by the specific phenomenon – kludging. In the exhibition, Václav Peloušek and Ondřej Merta will present a remake of Stanislav Filip’s installation User interface (Uživatelský interface), they will lead the workshops of making your own sound / video synthesizers and together with Stanislav Filip, they will lecture a workshop focused on blasting off the transistors and other electronic components and the physicality of these occurrences. Part of their author presentation will be also interventions in the public space, establishing of the pirate television broadcast or the device emitting Standuino platform datasheets into the universe through photon pulses of wave length 650 nanometers.
„We will construct and introduce prototypes of devices that allow analytical observation of their digital and electronic principles in the modernistic sense of word, as for example relation between the carrier (electronics) and the essence (digitality) or analysis of artist-kludger gestures. Standa Filip is helping us to put the vision into reality. He is unique persona in our environment because he has studied physics and he has experience with constructing musical instruments, so he is able to understand the nature of electronics and at the same time, he can naturally think about it in the artistic context.“ (Václav Peloušek, Ondřej Merta)
